Darkyn’s Mate

Caught between Fate and the Dark One …

Stuck in Hell, human-Deidre struggles to hold onto her hope that she can change the course of events that landed her as the mate of Darkyn, the Dark One. The chances of her leaving Hell plummet when the Dark One takes a drastic step to ensure he never loses his latest possession and blood binds her in an ancient rite from the time-before-time. In doing so, he is forced to share his power with her. Rather than despair, she begins to see that she has unexpectedly found her place in the world: protecting innocent souls from the bloodlust of the demon she’s forever bound to.

Rather than accept her place at his side docilely, she begins to use her newfound influence to help those she cares about, including Gabriel, the former lover she’s not yet ready to let go of, even knowing she’ll never leave Hell.

Love Lizzy Ford

I've reviewed this in the past, as a kindle purchase. This is one of my favorite series of all time. I bought this to add to my bookshelf collection--to look pretty until I pick it up to read again. 🙂

Darkyn's Mate
By Sunshine (4.0 out of 5 stars) on July 21, 2017
Basically the same story as book 2, but from Darkyn's mate, Deirdres, point of view. Skipped over the parts I had already read so feel a bit cheated.I can't believe I actually "liked" Darkyn by the end of the story.....that is how great the story line is. The story is so good and is coming together so excitingly that I am going to have to get the next in this series.....BUT.....I am still annoyed at the word for word story telling towards the end part of this book.

Basically from Human Deidre's POV

There were only a few additions to make this book different than Book 2 and to make it from human Deidre's POV. It definitely wasn't enough new information for a book in and of itself. You could honestly go from Book 2 to 4 and not miss anything important. Luckily, I got the 1st book free and the next 4 in a box set for a good price.Well-written, but in need of better editing for the typos.I do however, love the story so far and the first 2 books were so addictive that I'll continue reading this series.

Enthralling series!! 😀

Once again Lizzy Ford delivers. I will expect this from her from her now on. (big smile) The story arch is not quite done and I kinda thought it would be but makes kinda sense that it would take four. It was great to learn how both were affected from the time they became separated. The author has flushed out both Deidre's well in how they ar dealing with their emotions yet not caving from them and growing and learning from them. It is always a good for a female lead to have her moments but stand among diversity as well.Even though you sorta know where the story arch is going to go from the previous book you still find yourself on the edge at times in how she deals with Darkyn and how he deals with her. (smirks)All in all I am completely enthralled with this series and now needing to rush to get the next one. Enjoy!!

and with good reason. Very S &M

This has to be the most fascinating, and satisfying, book in the entire series. The relationship between Darkyn and Deidre begins to grow in an interesting and scintillating way. This book is definitely the sexiest, and with good reason. Very S &M. But Darkyn turns out to be completely different from what he's been portrayed as in other books. The relationship dynamic is realistic (Darkyn doesn't become a lovesick fool, but neither is he raping or torturing his mate). The conflict within Deidre also flows in a natural progression.

Probably my favorite book by this author
By I read way too much…. (5.0 out of 5 stars) on November 13, 2015
I think this may be my favorite of all the books Lizzy Ford has written. I am not sure why I like Darken so much, but I find him to be an extremely compelling character and I really enjoy this and the next book in the series which both heavily feature him. At the end of the previous book I was prepared to hate this match between the two characters, but I loved it. Ms Ford is an extremely talented writer and I look forward to reading many more books by her since I buy them pretty much as fast as she can turn them out.

Good sequel

Death is challenging - in more ways then one! What has Deidre gotten herself involved in? She thought that this was going to be temporary - doesn't look like that's going to happen. She makes the best of her situation and things get very interesting. Can't wait for the next book.

Love for Darkyn & Deidre!!!

So out of all the books in the Gabriel portion of the series this is my favorite story by far! I want Diedre to be the winner all the way and the only way she is going to do that is with a demon who loves her beyond all reason. Darkyn can't show emotion the way a human does and it really annoys me that Diedre keeps pushing to hear the words and doesn't pay attention to the actions! Like the silver trays with her favorite foods that keep appearing? Exactly who does she think is making this happen if it's not her? The blood binding, Darkyn didn't do this just to insure he kept Diedre because by the time her deal with past death is over she is already in love with Darkyn, he did this because he is in love with her and I believe he has been since the get go! Lizzy gave us a reason to love Darkyn, some call him short but for me or for Diedre he is just the right height and he makes up for that with a more pure love then Death will ever be able to have with past death! Just in case you can't tell I have no love for Death and his mate and I don't think the story was meant for us to feel that way but I can't help it! I wish that there was more of Diedre and Darkyn and I really hope Lizzy gives us more of them past the next book the Underworld. They deserve more! I really wish this book had Darkyn's POV! It would be really awesome to see into the mind of the Dark One! I also want to see Diedre come into her own and stop feeling disposable, to the Dark One she is everything!
